THE PHOTOGRAPHS
These cards depict different species of animals;
- African Elephant (image 1), the worlds largest land animal weighing up to 6,000kg.
- Highland Cow (image 2), an ancient Scottish breed of cattle.
- African Painted Dog (image 3 & 4), they have a bite force of 1,150PSI.
- Bat-Eared Fox (image 5), there huge ears are not only so the can hear insects underground but are also full of blood vessels and can cool their body down.
- De Brazza's Monkey (image 6), known for freezing completely still when threatened to disappear into the forest background.
- Red Panda (image 7), with a thumb-like wrist bone extension they can grab hold of branches and move effortlessly through the trees.
- Black Rhino (image 8), their pointed upper lip helps them to pick up and grab hold of browse.
- Maned Wolf (image 9), despite the name these canids are not wolves and infact, 50 - 70% of their diet is plant proteins. The tomato like fruit dubbed the 'wolf apple' is their main food source.
