THE PHOTOGRAPHS
These cards depict multiple different small cat species;
- Clouded Leopard (shown in images 1,2 & 7), these pictures show two females and a male. They are an elusive arboreal species that have the largest canine to head ratio of all cats and can open their jaws 180°!
- Margay (shown in images 3 & 10), these show a female and a male. They are a very small cat, weighing between 2.6 - 4kg, their eyes are designed to see perfectly in the dark making them mainly nocturnal.
- Caracal (shown in images 4,5 &9), these depict a male born in 2020. They have long tufts on their ears, with each ear having 20 muscles this allows them to pinpoint prey extremely well.
- Fishing Cat (shown in image 6), this is a male born in 2019. They have webbed feet and the ability to close their ears to allow them to dive to retrieve fish.
- Serval (shown in image 8), this is a female born in 2021. They can leap 9ft into the air to catch prey. Serval suffer from the pet trade as they are unfortunately bred with domestic cats to create Savannah cats, this is a practice that is detrimental to the species' survival.
- Pallas' Cat (shown in image 11), this is a male born in 2016. Their thick coat allows them to withstand temperatures of -50°C, they can be seen using their tails to keep their feet warm.
